So I'm sitting here in bed in the dark (save for the light of my computer screen), listening to my husband's whiffling snore and I'm struck by so many things at once.

One, I'm clearly still a B. because I'm wide awake. Funny how adjusting my last name brought that back out. Well, not that funny. I think it has more to do with the staying up and sleeping in (and today's "lounge around the house all day so you don't expend much energy and therefore have some to spare" plan) the honeymooning has inspired. Monday morning is gonna SUCK!

Two, I'm not actually sure what a "whiffling snore" sounds like, but you hear people say it, and I can see (hear) how it would fit this situation, so I'm appropriating it.

So. Some things have changed, and many things are still the same. I still use a really slow Mac laptop to chat to you, and it seems likely that I'll continue that for quite a while to come. Some day, SOME day I'll upgrade to a point where Firefox isn't telling me that my computer is so old it can't update any more. I'm not sure if that will happen before or after I find myself driving a car that handles winter in the mountains with a bit more safety than my current, beloved Saturn of 10 years. Although, as much as I'd like to upgrade my browser, I think I'd rather upgrade my handling capabilities.

I now live in a different state. I haven't changed states for 15 years. Changed houses, roommates, zip codes even, sure. But this new state thing is a little daunting. Granted, much less daunting because I'm not alone. [tiny squee] This new home is also the first one I've lived in for 15 years where the mail was delivered out of a real person's car (as opposed to a US PO-owned truck, or out of a foot-delivery person's bag). Did I mention I need to get on that whole "handling winter roads" thing with the car?

So, after a jam-packed semester, a graduation that I'm still a bit dubious is legit (that'll take years after I respond to my new name without pausing), a dash and a shove to get my worldly possessions moved, then a busy unpacking, holidaying, wedding-prepping, broom-jumping, and rush to get to Gatlinburg in time to see the ball drop from our balcony (check!), we have arrived in the second half of the honeymoon. Where, after weeks months of mad-dashing, we're settling in to an enjoyable lollygagging. We've seen things, eaten loads, had some laughs, and now spent an entire day in our pajamas at home. Perhaps we need to schedule a shower for the morning, before we're off to enjoy errands, and some more casual fun. It's pretty nice, this life I've found.

I pre-apologize for all obnoxious glass-more-than-half-full-ing headed your way. It's strange to me, too. But in a good way. A really, really good way.
